Computer makers have always advertised notebooks as "portable," Now，'Portable' computers become really portable.
Apple brought the "world's thinnest notebook to market in January with its MacBook Air.
The Air weighs 3.0 pounds (1.36 kg), and is 0.76 inches (1.93 cm) at its thickest point and 0.16 inches (0.4 cm) at its thinnest.
Less than a month after the MacBook Air debuted, Lenovo began selling a similar device, the ThinkPad X300. By contrast, the X300 has a somewhat thicker silhouette of 0.8 and 0.9 inches -- which is needed to accommodate its built-in DVD drive. And its weight rises to 3.3 pounds with its removable DVD drive.
Toshiba unveiled the Portégé R500, a 12-inch device that will weigh just 2.4 pounds , and does it all with a mere 0.77-inches of thickness, which Toshiba claims is the thinnest ever to include a disc drive. |
